BROADWAY RETURNS TO ST. PETERSBURG - 10/24/2006
Live Nation, a leading live entertainment company, has entered an agreement with the City of St. Petersburg to present national touring Broadway productions at the Mahaffey Theater at the Progress Energy Center for the Arts over the next 10 years. The new endeavor, Broadway Across America - St. Petersburg, will join a theatrical network of cities throughout North America known as Broadway Across America. The inaugural Broadway season at the Mahaffey will commence in October 2007.

The 07-08 Season will feature four musicals that were carefully chosen based on their diverse nature and broad appeal. The production, the Tony-nominated musical comedy THE WEDDING SINGER, will open the inaugural season October 30-November 4, 2007. Following that, THE TEN TENORS, Australia's hugely-popular singing export that just marked an enormously successful engagement in Palm Beach, will dazzle audiences with their musical virtuosity December 11-16, 2007. Britishj stage and screen legend Michael York ("Cabaret," "Austin Powers") will start in a magnificent new production Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT, February 12-17, 2008. Rounding out the line-up in spring 2008 is the first natioinal tour of SWEENEY TODD, Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece featuring innovative, Tony Award-winning direction by John Doyle.

Season tickets to Broadway Across America - St. Petersburg are on sale now and can be purchased online or by calling 866-698-7469. Season ticket prices range from $135 to $306, with Patron Club seating ranging from $443 to $506. Each touring production will play a total of eight performances over a one-week period. The performance schedule for each show is as follows: Tuesdays - Thursdays at 7:30 pm; Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm; Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets to individual shows are not available at this time.

On Saturday, November 4, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the general public is invited to the Mahaffey Theater for "Take Your Seat," an opportunity to rediscover the beautifully renovated theater and sample the very best seats in the house. When attendees find their "perfect seats," they can purchase a season subscription right on the spot during the event. Complimentary food and beverages will be served and fun prizes will be awarded.

The two organizations will continue to present touring Broadway shows separate from each other and at different theatrical venues. Florida Theatrical Association, Live Nation's non-profit presenting partner in five Florida cities, will also end its association with the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center at that time and join Live nation in St. Petersburg.
