The Best Knights Out in Jacksonville

The 2007-2008 FCCJ Artist Series –

SunTrust Broadway Across America - Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – The FCCJ Artist Series - SunTrust Broadway Across America – Jacksonville is proud to announce its 07-08 Broadway season featuring Monty Python’s Spamalot, the 2005 Tony Award® - winner for Best Musical and other hit shows including The Wedding Singer, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy and Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot.

THE WEDDING SINGER

Nov. 6 – 11

Direct from Broadway!

It’s 1985 and You’re Invited to THE WEDDING SINGER, where every night is a totally rad reception for Robbie Hart and friends, until he’s left at the altar. Based on the hit film, the Tony Award nominated, THE WEDDING SINGER has been called “AWESOME! Audiences haven’t had this much fun since ‘Mamma Mia’” – (Jess Cagle, WCBS TV/People Magazine).

THE WEDDING SINGER takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up and a wedding singer sporting a mullet might be the coolest guy in the room.

Don’t Miss the Party!

THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE

Dec. 21 – 23

Direct from Broadway!

In the Tony-Award winning new musical comedy THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. Parental Guidance Suggested.

SPELLING BEE has been hailed by the Wall Street Journal as “perfect in every possible way – that rarity of rarities, a super-smart musical that is also a bona fide crowd pleaser.”

This tuneful, offbeat and at times heartwarming show offers audience members the opportunity (strictly voluntary) to become part of the action as on-stage spellers. The New York Times calls SPELLING BEE, “irresistible, riotously funny and remarkably ingenious – gold stars all around.”

CIRQUE DREAMS JUNGLE FANTASY

Jan. 15 – 20

The National Tour

In the ongoing tradition of spectacular touring productions, Neil Goldberg and Cirque Productions have once again reinvented the circus with European flair, imaginative theatrics and world-class acrobatics. CIRQUE DREAMS Jungle Fantasy is an all-new adventure that takes audiences soaring into a magical forest through the air and on stage. An international cast of graceful aerialists, spine bending contortionists, vine swinging characters, strong men and balancers bring this jungle dream to life in a lush, Broadway setting filled with wildly unpredictable designs, special effects, inventive choreography, puppeteering and dazzling costumes. CIRQUE DREAMS Jungle Fantasy is an exhilarating journey the entire family can experience together.

MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT

Feb. 19 – 24

Direct from Broadway!

Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT is the outrageous new musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic "Monty Python and The Holy Grail." Directed by Tony Award-winner Mike Nichols, with a book by Eric Idle and music and lyrics by the Grammy Award-winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez, SPAMALOT tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences everywhere are eating up SPAMALOT.

LERNER AND LOEWE’S CAMELOT

April 22 – 27

The National Tour

Stage and film star, LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS will wear the crown in this magnificent new production of Lerner and Loewe’s timeless masterpiece. Tony nominated for his Broadway performance in the KING AND I, Phillips takes on the role of King Arthur. The enchanted kingdom of CAMELOT is a place where honor and chivalry reign.

But can this idyllic land survive when Queen Guenevere falls in love with Sir Lancelot?

The splendid, memorable score includes the romantic and haunting “If Ever I Would Leave You,” the captivating “How to Handle a Woman” and the majestic “Camelot.” Re-discover the grandeur of one of history’s greatest love stories.
