Local Programs

Master Classes
Cast members from national touring Broadway productions spend 1-2 hours with a small group of high school or college-level students where they share styles, techniques, training and advice on their craft. Most master classes offered tend to focus on acting, dancing or voice. Classes are usually tailored to the specific needs of the groups participating.

Artists-In-Schools
Similar to master classes, cast & company members visit local schools to discuss their trade and share their professional work experiences with younger audiences.

Public Workshops
These workshops are open to the general public and are related to touring Broadway productions that will be presented locally. Discussion topics tend to be wide-ranging including how a stage production was adapted from a book or perhaps a focus on the songs from a well-known composer. Cast members are generally not present at public workshops.

Chatbacks / Talkbacks
Immediately following performances where large student groups are in attendance, participating cast members from touring Broadway productions will return to the stage for a 30-minute Q&A session where students have an opportunity to ask questions and interact with the cast.

Technical Observation
Held specifically for very small groups of college-level students that are working toward degrees in theatre production or similar fields. These observations generally allow the students to observe the technical load-in process of a touring production while seated in the orchestra. In some instances, a show’s production stage manager will also spend some time interacting with the students while offering advice on how to succeed in the theatrical workforce following graduation.

“Kids Night on Broadway”
An official program of the League of American Theatres and Producers, “Kids Night on Broadway” is designed to introduce young audiences to the magic of live theatre and make Broadway accessible to a new generation of theatergoers. One family-friendly production is typically chosen each season and one free child ticket is offered with each purchase of a full-price adult ticket to this production. Study guides are provided to children and, in many cases, there is also a 30-minute “Meet the Cast” opportunity in the lobby for the children prior to curtain time.

Discounted Tickets
Many of the touring Broadway productions allow deeply discounted tickets to select performances for student groups. The reduced ticket price enables students to experience the magic of live theatre, an opportunity that they may not be able to afford otherwise.
